Walt Disney once said “The greatest moments in life are not concerned with selfish achievements but rather with the things we do for the people we love and esteem, and whose respect we need." Barbara Jean (McIntosh) Veatch was that person. She was one of the most selfless humans, always putting others before herself. Barbara was born July 12, 1943 to Arnold Dean McIntosh and Frankie June Gann in Granite City, IL. She was the oldest of four children, but the best because she was the only girl! Her younger brothers Robert, Samuel and Johnny were a rowdy bunch, Barb kept them in their place with her smarts and wits. Tragedy struck the family when Johnny lost his life to an accidental gunshot wound to the head at nine years old and the family was never the same.

Barbara scored her first husband, Robert John Veatch, by simply sitting near the window of the doctor's office that she worked at. The two wed shortly after on March 2, 1963, it was the wedding that she had always dreamed of. The couple moved to Las Vegas later in the 1960s and soon after had two amazing daughters, Tracy Lee Veatch and Kristileigh Anne Veatch. Barbara worked as head nurse and office manager in a local doctors office for many years in Las Vegas until her retirement. Barbara and Robert divorced in 1981 and Barbara continued to raise the two daughters like a BOSS.

She became the girl scout troop leader for Tracy and Kristi's cadet and brownie groups. She took them on camp outs, hikes, hosted talent shows for parents, food drives, and of course girl scout cookie blowouts. She loved giving back to the community and hosted shows for nursing homes and the elderly to lift their spirits. One year, our entire back room was filled with boxes, top to bottom, of girl scout cookies, it was like a maze with all of those boxes and yet she managed to get the whole troop out there to sell those cookies!

Barbara met the love of her life while playing a slot machine with her good friend at the Continental Casino. He was mesmerized with her poise and beauty immediately. After a short courting period, she agreed to marry and became the wife of Donald Charles Huber, Jr. Barbara and Don were married on October 13, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV at the Treasure Island Chapel and remained that way for the rest of her life. Barbara and Don had a beautiful friendship as well as deep love for each other. They loved to take adventures together whether it was simply to see a new movie or to see an island on a cruise. After Barbara retired, she and Don decided to move to St George, UT to escape the hustle of Las Vegas. Barbara loved living in this community, she loved the friendliness, quiet small town feel and knew that this would be the place for her.

Barbara was the one of the most friendly, kind, loving people this world will ever have known. She has never met a stranger and she would never turn a person away. She was an extremely trusting person almost to a fault. Her favorite thing to do was to spend her time with family and visit for hours and hours exchanging stories. She has 5 grandchildren, all of which are her pride and joy and she never got tired of hearing what they had to say. Barbara LOVED babies and children, give her a baby and they were guaranteed to fall asleep in minutes in her loving and comfortable arms. She just had the "touch", the angel touch.

Barbara loved taking trips to Disneyland with her daughters and grandchildren, and they made many memories over the years - probably hundreds. It will be hard taking another trip without her but it is always something that will be thought about when remembering her. She loved "Its a Small World", "Haunted Mansion", "Pirates of Caribbean", the Disney Railroad and would never miss the fireworks. I tried to think what Disney princess she was most like when writing this and after some long thought, it hit me. She is the ultimate Disney Princess encompassing all of the traits that they each carry within themselves, the lessons that they teach us, the warnings that they heed. Barbara was not only beautiful but also carried within her bravery, loyalty, tolerance, strength and adventure. She taught us the timeless reminder of how to act kind to ourselves, others and everything that surrounds us. This is what Barbara has taught us through her actions and her words and stories. She is OUR Disney princess and OUR hero, always.

I love you, we love you. You received your wings to fly but none of us were ready to see you take that flight just yet. Always loving angels, now YOU are one and will forever be by our side.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Huber Jr, daughters Tracy Veatch Morrett and Kristileigh Delatorre, grandchildren Ian Veatch McCartney, Brandy Delatorre, Jade Hafen, Sawyer Hafen and Dakota Hafen
