Carlos Castaneda Flores passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Salt Lake city. He was 59 years old, born May 10, 1965.
Carlos loved spending time with his family. He was always planning the next get together or family outing and loved when our family would come together. He valued family picnics, backyard barbecues and fireworks on the 4th of July. Carlos adored his friendships and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could.
He was an avid scale model builder and collector. He loved car racing with Indy being his favorite. He was a super fan of the Dallas Cowboys, always making sure to watch their games to cheer them on. He also loved to take drives and share his experiences especially the times he would head up Millcreek Canyon.
Carlos grew up in Millcreek, Utah and remained a resident of the area throughout his life. He graduated from Granite High School in 1983. He worked as a crew member for the local film industry on a variety of movie and TV productions, including "Touch by an Angel". He loved to talk about his time on the set and the amazing friends he made.
Over the last years of his life, Carlos suffered and delt with type 2 diabetes and Kidney disease. He was on dialysis for many years, which took a considerable toll on him and consumed many hours a week, yet he remained positive through his trials. He worked hard to remember all the names of the staff and made friends with the other patients at dialysis. He always tried to brighten someone else's day and was always thinking of others.
He is survived by his Mother, Belen C. Flores, and his siblings Ramiro (Amy Buchanan) Flores, Ricardo (Teresa) Flores, and Sonia Flores. He was preceded in death by his father, Joel R. Flores. Carlos was also a gracious and loving uncle towards his two nieces Maya and Cora and Nephews Joel and Sawyer.
Our family would like to offer our thanks and gratitude to the medical community that cared for Carlos for many years as well as those with emergency services that worked so diligently to help him in his final moments of life.
In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider a donation to the American Diabetes association or the American Kidney fund.
