1954 ~ 2019
Cathy Mary Housley passed away on June 7, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to William and Mary Roeling on June 18, 1954.
Cathy married Orvid Ray Housley, Sr. on June 24, 1972. Together they had three kids: Kathryn Raie Housley on February 25, 1973; Candy Lee Housley on July 10, 1974; and Orvid Ben Housley, Jr. on May 30, 1976.
Family and friends were the most important things in life to Cathy. A strong, sweet woman who was always kind and caring, she was happy-go-lucky most of the time, but when she got mad, she was a firehouse.
She loved fishing, camping, sewing, cooking and baking. An excellent cook, her favorite dishes were steak, pork chops, prime rib and her famous banana cream and pumpkin pies.
She worked as a flagger for over 20 years for the State of Utah, moving up to the lead flagger position, and also spent 10 years making seat covers for C & B Sales.
Cathy is survived by Ray, her husband of almost 47 years; her children Cathy Wassink (Larry), Candy and O.B.; grandchildren Orvid Ray Housley, Jr.; Abigail (Ruben) Ayala; Trisdina Raie Ray; Nicholas William Ray; Audrey Anna Atwell (Colin); Harley Davidson Housley; and Lanette Lovendahl and great grandchildren Ruben Ayala, Michael Ayala, Carley Ayala, Anthony Ayala, Taisley Jade Burkett, Xainyn Lou Burkett, Joseph Atwell and Mika Atwell; sisters Cindy and Sherrie; and brothers Billy and Ronnie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Patricia, Dianna and Karen; and brothers Kenny and Lenny.
Although she moved to Willcox, Arizona, in 2003, she always considered Salt Lake City her home, making it back there before coming to rest.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Redwood Cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the graveside services at that same location beginning at 10:00 a.m.
