Charles Gustin Hibbard was born May 14, 1925 in Climax, Michigan and died peacefully March 6, 2018. He served on an LST as a quartermaster during World War II in the Pacific theatre. He entered the Air Force in 1949, serving as an Air Traffic Controller in Korea and Viet Nam among many other places, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah, becoming an Air Force historian. He is survived by his wife Mavis, his children Elizabeth (Bill), Catherine, Rebecca (Jack), and Robert (Diana), stepchildren Susan, Joe, and John, siblings Robert, Mary, and Beatrice, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service at Fort Douglas Cemetery on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Fort Douglas Museum requested in lieu of flowers.
