Connie Burgess Jones

d. December 14, 2021

On January 17th 1933 Connie Burgess Jones came screaming into this chaotic world. The newest citizen of a country recently ravaged by the great depression and unknowingly about to head into a second world war, with tensions building across the globe.

Born to the recently married Donna and Howard Burgess, this 4th generational Daughter of the Pioneers came into this world by way of midwife in the tiny town of Bunkerville, in the Nevada desert. The eldest of what would turn out to be seven children, Connie grew up fast, and strong...always with responsibilities beyond what others could handle.

In the beginning of the 1950's she married Ray Jones and they went on to have 3 children together before parting ways after 4 decades together. Although the marriage ended, years later Connie and Ray came back together in mutual respect and deep friendship until his death in 2009.

Connie is survived by her daughter Virginia. a current business woman, and former actress. She's a red head which sums up her passion for life rather well. Robert, her youngest is someone who has always been driven to work hard at anything he does and provide well for his family. Her middle child Donald, passed away in the late 1980's and was know as a gifted world-renowned artist. A man so giving and liked, people from all over the world came to his funeral by the hundreds.

Needless to say, Connie was a strong woman who influenced those around her, whether you were her children, or the countless others who she was a second mother to, whether they liked it or not, and in some cases whether you realized it or not, she was there with caring, wisdom and humor. She was known for being welcoming and kind to those joining her family or community.

Connie was a woman of great courage, with the heart of a lion, who would fiercely protect the ones she loved, and fight for what was right, and with a good and gentle soul who would always make sure anyone she knew would never go without. Not on her watch.

If anyone she knew was putting a wedding together, she was right there ready, willing an able to make a wedding cake from scratch, and put together any floral arrangements, or any thing else she could craft to help out, and if you knew what was good for you, you'd let her because she was extremely talented in those areas.

She was known as someone who just wouldn't quit. She would outwork a team of teenagers, and probably a team of horses if she had to. She was a master at upcycling, and repurposing, especially if it meant helping someone. You wouldn't dare throw away anything around her unless you wanted a lesson on how what you threw out could be used again.

For decades, until recently she would meet up with a group of ladies from her highschool days for lunches. Those type of connections were important to Connie.

Besides being a successful mother, sister, aunt and all around amazing person, Connie's greatest achievement, and what she was most proud of was her appointment on the Board Of Directors for the Housing Department in our area. She was a decision maker working with members of the local government, and helped thousands of people over the years.

Connie peacefully returned home to her heavenly Father, December 7th 2021 just after 1 AM. She will be missed by those of us who were blessed enough to have known her.
