Dean William Morrill

Dean William Morrill, 64, passed away on October 17th, 2024. Dean was a devoted disciple of Christ and has been reunited with his loving wife Nancy, parents, and many other loved ones.

He was born April 30, 1960, in Murray, Utah to Milo Glade Morrill and Lilly Darlene Nickle.

He was sealed to his loving wife Nancy Ellen Barss in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 4, 1987.

Dean was raised in Sandy, Utah. In elementary school/Jr. High School, he was a member of a ballroom dancing company and competed throughout the West. In Jr. High and High School, he was involved heavily with the music program and played the trombone. He continued to be involved with music after high school and sang with the Mormon Youth Chorus where he met his Nancy, and as a couple they continued to sing with the Chorus for many years. He also sang with the Utah Opera Company. Both Dean and Nancy continued to share their musical talents in ward and stake choirs.

Dean served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greensboro, North Carolina, introducing many to the Gospel and becoming fast friends to those he met.

He attended Weber State University after High School and several other institutes of education along with many jobs and careers to support his family. He finally settled on becoming a nurse and that was the career he loved the best. He loved being a caregiver and nurse. He especially loved working with and teaching older individuals and those with diabetes.

He was very interested in his family heritage and in the history in and around Hurricane and the family ranch in Wayne county. He could share history and family stories that were quite obscure to many of us. He and Nancy had a trailer at the ranch that they loved dearly and would visit as often as possible. He was very involved with the Morrill family organization and helped to manage the ranch and resources as he was able.

He loved the various pets that he and Nancy cared for, including some wild creatures that would visit their home.

He was a loving devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was always interested in their welfare and never failed to ask his siblings about their children and grandchildren.

He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and had a firm, unshakable testimony of the Savior, His love for each of us, the Plan of Happiness, and the Lord’s personal plan for him.

Dean siblings are brothers David Glade Morrill (Rhonda), Jeffrey Clement Morrill (Jackie), sister Lynnette Andrew (Kirk),Gary Robert Morrill ((deceased), and his wife Kimberly); Dean loved Nancy’s siblings as his own they are: brother David Scofield Barss (Mary Ellen, deceased), brother Daniel Masson Barss (deceased), sister Carolyn Turley (Rickie); He had many loved nieces and nephews as well as many, many grand nieces and nephews: aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents Milo and Darlene Morrill, Nancy’s parents Carlton and Jessie Barss, brother Gary Robert Morrill, sister-in-law Peggy Porter Morrill, brother-in-law Daniel Masson Barss, and his own Beloved wife Nancy.

Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the many Doctors, nurses, and caregivers that served Dean through Diabetes and a Kidney transplant. Your service, dedication, and compassion is recognized and appreciated.

Also, we wish to recognize the members of Dean’s ward for the loving, compassionate service rendered to Dean. May the Lord bless you for extending Christ like service to those in need
