Derwin Damone Mason passed away unexpectedly at 56 years young on December 8, 2013 in Murray, Utah from kidney related illness. He was born July 23, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to Vera Powell and Eugene Mason (who preceded him in death).
Derwin was a gentleman, a unique man who lived life to the fullest. He had great love for his family and once he chose you as a friend, you became his friend for life. He loved playing with his grandchildren, telling stories, watching movies, being with friends and cooking. His favorite foods were tacos, shrimp and popcorn.
He is survived in death by his wife, Ruthann Torres Mason; his children Starshemia Brown, Marcela Torres, Maseo Mason and Derek Mason; his grandmother Hazel Mason; sisters Demetria and Eugena Mason and a lot of grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Trejon Fite, Aunt Lois Powell, Grandmother Daisy Williamson and Grandfather Adolfus Powell.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1090 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be a viewing at the same location preceding the funeral from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
