1926 ~ 2016
Hugh Edwin Bronson, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Holladay, Utah, April 9, 2016. He was born January 20, 1926 in Springville, Utah to David Carl and Mary Jane Watkins Bronson and was a devoted son and brother. In fact, love for family and for friends was his greatest joy throughout his life. After high school and ROTC, Hugh joined the United States Army and served overseas on Okinawa during WWII, later re-enlisting for the Korean War. These experiences had a great impact on his life, his respect for his country and its flag.
He married Gay Goodrich in 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they had eight children. After studies at the University of Utah, Hugh worked for Gallagher Co., was a ski instructor at Brighton and taught machining at Utah Technical College. He then went on to start Combined Supply & Plastics and later Bronson Custom Machine & Fab where he enjoyed working for himself, exhibiting his skills as a machinist. Hugh loved life and enjoyed many activities such as fishing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, waterskiing, hunting and was an expert marksman, winning several awards in trapshooting.
Hugh is survived by his wife Gay, their children Reed, Janette (Harvey), Julie (Ford) and LeAnne, his brother Ray, several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Grant, Rex, Boyd and Betty, and his children Donna (Allen), Steven, Mary and Betty.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral. All services will be held at the LDS Stake Center located at 4568 South Holladay Boulevard, Holladay, Utah.
