Jacqueline Thun Chase

May 26, 1960 — July 23, 2024

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and wife. She is the most humble and kind person you could ever meet. She would give her shirt off her back to anyone that was in need. Everyone that was around Jackie loved her laugh, it was contagious. She had a very spunky personality. When she would walk into a room it would light up and get filled with joy. Some of her favorite things to do were to play tennis and go hiking. She absolutely loved nature and being outside. She loved to listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was her favorite artist.

My mother taught me strength and how to love. She inspired me to be a kind, loving, and humble person as she was. As a child we had many wonderful adventures together, there are a few stories I would like to share, my mother had this black firebird and I remember as a little girl, we would crank up the radio to Eddie Grant Electric Avenue. Take the tee tops off the car, and drive really fast and I enjoyed it. We would laugh and sing along together. There was this one time on our adventure we came to a hard stop and my shoes went flying off my feet. Me and my mom started to laugh really hard and then we looked at eachother and we sang,” Rock down to electric avenue, let me take you higher.” My mom had these boots that she would always wear out, they were so high, about above her knee and they were almost like stilts and as a little girl I could never understand how she walked in those things. She would come home and would ask me,”Lan, could you come and unzip these boots and take them off me. My feet are hurting!” and I would always be there to take her boots off. Another story, when I was little I decided to play dress up and try on her boots, that didn’t end well. I walked about two steps, fell right over and then I remember asking my mom, “teach me how to walk in those boots”. I hold all of those memories close to my heart. I love you to the moon and back mom. -Lana

My grandmother is one of the strongest and bravest women I know. She led by example and I looked up to how loving, kind, and strong she was.She always was in the moment and always knew how to make sure everyone had a good time. Even with age that never stopped my grandma from being spontaneous or wanting her hair and makeup done. I also have a couple of stories I would like to share. Like I said before, my grandma loved doing or having her hair and makeup done. She would get dolled up everyday even if we were just going to spend the day at home. She would always ask me if I could do her eyelashes for her. Even when I would get home tired from work she would set out her lashes and glue to remind me that the night before I promised her that I would do them the next day and she would always convince me. And my inspiration for makeup came from my grandmother. When my grandma was living in Arizona and we would go and visit her she always made sure to have a gift for every single one of us for every single one of us and never missed a birthday card. She was a wonderful and thoughtful person and I am honored to call her my grandmother. I love you to the moon and back grandma.-Alexa

My best friend, my grandma, the strongest and most beautiful person in the world, the short amount of time I got to spend with her was amazing. I would like to share some stories about my time with her. There was this one time, recently, where Me and my grandma went outside to play with water guns. We were in the house and I filled them up with water then we went outside to the side of the house to play. I pumped up the water gun for her so that she would spray me. And she got me right in the nose! That whole day was very fun. We watched and lit fireworks together and made homemade bubbles with water bottles. Then we came inside and watched Alvin and the chipmunks. Grandma always loved her coke and could never go a day without it, and one day when she didn’t have any I rode on my bike and went to the gas station to get her some and when I got back she had the biggest smile on her face. Although grandma was old by age she was young in spirit. My grandma taught me how to play hopscotch. We made a hopscotch with chalk and grandma was jumping around, we had a great time. I love you to the moon and back grandma.-Morgan

My grandma and I have a lot in common, we both have fiery personalities and we both hold ourselves high to a beauty standard. My grandma always had the biggest hair in the room hence my inspiration in the hair industry. Just a little backstory, as her first granddaughter she felt very compelled to the name Erika and she insisted on spelling it with a K instead of a C. Making my name unique. And I will always cherish the fact that I was named by my grandmother. My grandma has always been someone who loves deeply, not only to me but to my boyfriend and my cats. She has always been someone to accept people as they are and that is something that I will miss the most, her loving and admirable personality. I love you to the moon and back grandma-Erika
