James Wilford Anderson, 90, died October 20, 2023, at the Beaver Valley Care Center, in Beaver, Utah. He was born on July 21, 1933, to LaVon Shurtz and John Wilford Anderson in Cedar City, Utah. In 1951 he enlisted in the Marines and served during the Korean War.
James married Dixie Lynn Tolbert on April 4, 1959, and they had seven children together: James Lloyd, Lori Lynn, Amber Rose, Dustin Wilford, Sammi Von, Daniel Craig, and Michael Don.
He worked as a core driller, millwright, welder, and plant mechanic before retiring from Salt River Project in 1994. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was also an avid gardener and BYU football fan. He built many airplane models, sharing them with friends and family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two missions with his wife, Dixie.
James is survived by his wife, Dixie, Beaver, Ut.; Callie Smith (Darryl), Price, Ut.; James Anderson (An), Sandy, Ut.; Lori Anderson, Salt Lake City, Ut.; Amber Radman, Salt Lake City, Ut.; Dustin Anderson (Lesa), Springville, Ut.; Sammi Anderson (Alison), Seattle, Wa.; Daniel Anderson, Parowan, Ut.; Michael Anderson (Ellie), Paragonah, Ut.; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sister Lorna Defiebre (Ken), Danville, Ca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Darr Hill and Peter Doolin, sisters Shirley Wilson, Bonnie Winn, and Betty Lundstrom, and granddaughter Toni Anderson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paragonah, Utah.
