John Landis Casper

d. October 3, 2013

1985 ~ 2013
September 29, 2013, from his home in Layton, Utah, John Landis Casper, following a courageous six-year battle with cancer, "began writing a new chapter in his novel".

John was born February 28, 1985, in Pocatello, Idaho, the 4th child of Lorin Casper and Ruth Casper. John attended Inkom Elementary, Marsh Valley Middle School, and graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 2003. During John's senior year he met his eternal companion Tressa Bowen. John and Tressa were married in Pocatello February 2, 2004, and sealed in the Logan Utah Temple July 1, 2005. They were blessed with two precious little girls, Shayanne and Roxy. John was so proud to be a dad. When asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, his response was always, "A Dad."

John was employed with Comcast and enjoyed his time there. All who loved John would like to express their sincere gratitude to the company and his wonderful coworkers.

John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life he was blessed with kind acts of service from numerous ward members. John had a sure testimony of the gospel and a great love for our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. This knowledge gave him much strength through this heavy trial.

John loved watching his New York Yankees with his little dog Mack. John treasured being with his family, playing games, constantly teasing the kids to make them laugh, and enjoying chocolate cream pie. He was an awesome uncle and found pleasure from the time he spent with his nieces and nephews. John taught them the true meaning of courage. They will miss their hero.

John is survived by his wife Tressa; two daughters, Shay and Roxy; parents Ruth Casper, Lorin and Mary Casper; sisters Clarissa (Casey) Rogers, Jennifer (Jeff) Hall, and Melissa (Adam) Jolley; brother Wyatt Casper; and his grandmother Dorothy Casper. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. John was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer and Dorothy Landis and Grandfather Lorin Casper Sr.

We truly appreciate John's friends taking him to games, out to dinner, and just stopping by. We would also like to send our love to John's hospice nurse (Nurse Rachel), who went beyond her duties with unmeasured kindness. He always looked forward to her visits. Everyone who was privileged to have known John loved him.

We love you, Johnny, and can't wait to see you again.
