Magna, UT - I was born December 13, 1933, in Richfield, Utah to Miles Enoch Gurr and Priscilla Blanche Barney. I passed away March 25, 2021 in Tooele, Utah. I lived my youth in Richfield and traveled with my parents to Oregon. I lived in a tent, as my dad was a Lumberjack Worker.
When I was a one-year-old, I got very sick and we moved back to Richfield, where I went to school.
I met Robert G. Meyer and we got married March 9, 1949. We moved to Magna, Utah on March 10 and then to Garfield in 1952. In 1957, we moved back to Magna and stayed. Later we were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December 1978. We were blessed with three children (two sons, one daughter) - Steven, Fontella, and DeWayne. I loved my children and did my best as I could to raise them right.
I worked as a Grocery Checker. I was a Cub Scout teacher for five years and Den Mother for Den 1 in the Lake Ridge 1st Ward. I was a Relief Society Teacher for many years, Secretary in the Relief Society for one year and a librarian. I was a Genealogy Consultant for the LDS Church in 2010.
I was licensed with Social Services and took in foster children at my home. I took in needy families at no charge and gave to needy families.
I made many beautiful crochet dolls and did crafts, ceramics, and made many quilts - I was a homemaker.
I loved dancing, square dancing, and ballroom dancing with Robert. I player the organ, I loved music.
I did much hunting and fishing with my family and friends. We did much traveling together. Our family was a close one and all family was included in all trips.
I was blessed with seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, all who I helped raise. They were beautiful children - Shellie Ann, Steve C., Tiffany, Jennifer, Lori, and Donna Lynne were special to me.
I am the last of my family. I am preceded in death by my husband, father, mother, three brothers - Kenneth Miles, Steve D., Tommy J.; a dear step-father Samual "Bud" Harding, and step-mother Della. I have five step-sisters, three step-brothers. I am survived by my children, special friends Dorothy and Sandra Lee; all of my special cousins - S. Oleta, LaRee, Yvonne; and my special cousins who were like brothers to me - Jay Barney and Blake.
I gave all I could to my family and I loved them dearly and raised them to be good people. I dearly loved my grandchildren; how special they are to me; Also, my one grandson Matt Meyer and his family in Idaho (all their talents and singing). God bless them always, all of the good times we had, and all of our special memories.
We have truly been blessed with many good neighbors.
As your tears fall, don't think of them as lost - just call them tears of love and happy days gone by.
