She was born on June 10, 1924, the fourth child of her parents Riley Lyman and Alvaretta Robinson Dixon in Manard, Idaho, on Camas Prairie.  She graduated from Gooding High School (Idaho) where her family had moved so the children could attend good schools.  She attended LDS Business College and Utah Agricultural College (USU) before meeting her sweetheart, Verle W.
