1927 ~ 2016
Marie Dean Bybee Aplanalp, 88, of Lindon, UT, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 4, 2016.
Born September 13, 1927 in Colorado Springs, CO to Jerald Eugene and Nellie Moser Bybee, she lived a life of service and faith and was an example of love, covenants and compassion. Married Arden J Aplanalp in 1950 in the Salt Lake temple, they were the parents of nine children, raising their family in Salt Lake City and Moraga, CA, MD was twice named Miss Springville, graduated from BYU and worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines before her marriage.
She was director of volunteers at the Salt Lake County Detention Center and had a place in her heart for the Indian Placement Program, inviting several native American girls to live in her home. After moving to California, she was a floral designer and a companion to several elderly women. Later in life she served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including a humanitarian mission in Vietnam.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rian and brother Larry. Survived by her children, Rory, Kim (Dennis) Hanks, Doni (Kevin) Bates, JoDee, Jill (Doug) Axelrod, Ritch (Amberly), Aimee (Barry) DellaSilva, Robi (Stacey), 33 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and brothers Donald (Esther Rae) and Craig.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on March 11 at the Lindon 15th Ward, 1051 East 200 South, Lindon, UT. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service.. A private family gathering and interment in the Logan City cemetery will be held the day before. MD's legacy is all about serving others.
