Matthew James Mahoney

Though we have lost a dear friend, father and brother, the memory of Matt's smile will warm our hearts forever. He greeted everyone with that smile, so filled with genuine interest we all thought we were his only, special friends.
A native of Utah, Matt attended Olympus and Granite high schools. Later, he became an amazing chef, working at the Mikado Restaurant in Salt Lake City and in Park City. Using those skills at home, he prepared spectacular meals for his family and friends, often delivering meals to his ill aunt.
He worked very hard, constantly, to improve himself, with an interest and training in martial arts and in law enforcement. He was an honorary officer in the Salt Lake Police Department. He was also a 32nd degree Mason.
He is survived by his brother Ryan and his two dearly loved children, Mason and Magon.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sego Lily Ward located at 9824 South Flint Drive (1000 East) Sandy, Utah with a viewing that same day beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
