Melanie Anne Patterson was born Olney, Illinois on November 10, 1949 to Kenneth Patterson and Marilynn Bristow. She returned to Heaven in the morning of Monday, June 19th at home in West Jordan, Utah from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She married David Zirbel on September 13, 1968 in El Paso, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, David Zirbel, Sr., and their children, David Zirbel Jr., Joshua (Erin) Zirbel, Amanda (Ryan) Kidman, and her grandson, Andrew Kidman. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael and Rodney (Sonja) Patterson; her sister, Lisa (William) Swearingen. She is very loved by nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends from all over the United States.
Melanie graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a Bachelors and Masters of Arts degrees in Psychology with Honors. She enjoyed serving an LDS Service Mission at Welfare Square, providing employment counseling. She also served in various ward callings in El Paso, Texas, South Jordan, Salt Lake City, and Sandy, Utah. The family would like to thank AFI Advanced Care Hospice for all that they did for Melanie and her family.
A Memorial Service will be held at the West Jordan Heritage Stake Center located at 7336 South 3200 West, in West Jordan, on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
