1927 ~ 2014
Nola Jensen Nelsen, 1927-2014, of Midvale, Utah, returned to her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2014. Nola was born August 8, 1927 to James Marley Jensen and Mildred Blake Jensen in South Jordan, Utah. .She is one of eight children, four boys, and four girls. Nola married her eternal companion, Glen Lowell Nelsen on September 17, 1952. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She was a faithful member of The LDS Church and served in many positions including Relief Society President. She dearly loved music and was her ward's music chorister for many years. She had the voice of an angel and sang in many choirs. She graduated from Jordan High School and was proud to be a Beetdigger. She also played the French horn. Music was her passion along with family.
She loved and lived for her 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In her early years she worked for Utah Power & Light and was even on their bowling team. She loved sports and played many during her life. She enjoyed watching the Jazz on TV. She loved working in the yard and made the best pies ever!
Nola is survived by her husband Glen, children Gary (Lynette) Nelsen, Delene Nelsen, Glen D. (Shelly) Nelsen, twin sister Lola Jensen Creason of Missouri and niece Carolee Wilson (who was like a sister). She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Arnold, Stanley, Stella, LeRoy, Donald, and Viola.
The family would like to thank the many hospice and home health workers, and her loving daughter that made it possible for her to remain at home until the end which was her wish.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Midvale 4th Ward located at 87 E 7100 South, Midvale, Utah, where friends and relatives may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the service. Internment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
