Peggy Pocock, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on January 12, 2017 after a short yet courageous battle with cancer. Her mortal journey concluded peacefully in her home in the early hours of the morning, surrounded by her husband of 42 years and their three children. Although she will be greatly missed, we are blessed to have known and loved such a wonderful woman. She left a piece of her heart with anyone who knew her.
In many ways, her life of 74 years can be encapsulated in her favorite scripture, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding." This trust has always played a big part in Peggy's life, but perhaps was demonstrated best after being rushed to the hospital with pregnancy complications. That night, as she lay awake in her dark room, she quietly repeated this simple scripture and prayed. Three months later her faith and trust were rewarded with the birth of her greatest pride and joy, her triplet children.
This same faith and trust permeated her life. It led her on an LDS mission to California in 1963; it guided her to the Salt Lake Temple on March 28, 1975 where she was sealed to her sweet husband Richard; and it served as her constant motto through many trials and struggles of life.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Peggy regularly put this faith into action. Among her various callings, she served as a primary chorister, a temple worker, and spent almost twenty years working with handicapped children both in a church capacity as well as a teachers aid. In fact, her entire life was spent loving and serving these special spirits.
In addition, this trust and faith were always present in her home. Daily family prayer and scripture study were just a part of the routine, and in her later years when reading became difficult, you could find her and Richard listening to the scriptures together on a daily basis.
Peggy is survived by her husband Richard Pocock, her daughter, Megan (Jeremiah) Honsvick, her son, Christopher (Nicole) Pocock, her daughter, Tamara Pocock, and her 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18th at the LDS Ward Chapel on the corner of 4100 South and Bangerter Highway in West Valley City, Utah. Viewings will be held at the same location the night before from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or the day of the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
