Ray Deloy MacFarlane

d. March 6, 2017

Ray Deloy MacFarlane passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 6, 2017 in West Jordan, Utah. He was born in Whiterocks, Utah on March 26, 1938 to Kenneth Ray MacFarlane and Mary Lavina Searle. He married Clara Eva Dolder July 16, in Elko, Nevada and they were later divorced. He married Terry Linda Short-Lyman December 4, 1976 in Elko, Nevada. The marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple on April 3, 1992.

Deloy graduated from West High School in 1957 and served in the United States Marine Corp for two years in reserves during high school and six years active duty from 1957 to 1963. He worked for Mountain States Creamery as a butter maker for many years and also worked for Highland Dairy off and on during that time. Most of those years he also worked a second job in order to support his family. The last 20 years of his career were spent as an ice cream maker for Snelgroves/Dryers/Nestles Dryers where he retired in August 2016. He enjoyed making ice cream and also eating it.

Deloy helped his wife run Cloggers Ala Carte dance studio for many years and enjoyed performing, competing, and traveling with Terry, their children, and the students and parents. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, riding horses, reading and watching westerns, country music, square dancing, playing cards and board games, playing jokes on his family and friends, his religion, and lazy days with his wife.

Deloy's greatest joy came when he was with his family. His love for all of them was unconditional and he was very proud of each and every one of them. He was diagnosed with lung cancer on January 1, 2016, and fought a long and hard battle, cheered on and supported by his loving huge family and many friends. He was a giant of a man and an example and hero to many. He will be greatly missed.
