1961 ~ 2015
Robert Delos Ralphs (54 years old), son of Lee W. Ralphs and Donna Fern Price, born on May 21, 1961, in Payson, Utah, died July 30, 2015, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His dad once said of him, "The ability to use and manipulate words with conviction was one of Robert's many gifts. This ability to think in the abstract as well as to study diligently was apparent early in life making him popular with peers and adults." Pursuing one of his interests, he was on the high school debate team. He graduated from Springville High School in 1979 with high scholastic achievements and was offered a scholarship from Harvard University. After his first year there, he served an LDS mission to South Korea. After completing his mission, his return to Harvard was pleasant and rewarding. He graduated with a double degree and awarded Magna Cum Laude ("with great honor"). Robert was an administrator and teacher for Waterford School, one of Utah's finest private schools, for 25 years. More recently, he served as Executive Director of Children First Utah, working to ensure more low income children have access to quality education. He also filled the role of Executive Director of Alianza Academy, a private academy dedicated to offering K-8th grade instruction with a strong commitment to academic achievement, character development and leadership skills. During the summer months between school sessions, Robert enjoyed traveling the world, especially to India and Greece. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Donna Ralphs of Springville, Utah. He is survived by: two brothers- Douglas (Kristine) Ralphs of American Fork, Utah, and David Ralphs of Newport, Kentucky, one sister- Charalene Ralphs of Draper, Utah, and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Graveside Services for family and friends will be held on August 11, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at the American Fork City Cemetery (26 W 600 N). A celebration of Robert's life will be held at the McGillis School (668 S 1300 E, Salt Lake City) on August 15, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alianza Academy.
