1948 ~ 2019
Russell Eugene Wilder, in the care of his beloved wife, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 30. Quick to joke, he enjoyed British Comedy and was an avid reader who used his vast knowledge and quick wit to help others laugh. A lifetime sports fan, Russell faithfully rooted for the Jazz, even after the Stockton - to - Malone Era.
Born August 5, 1948 in Price, Utah near many family members, Russell spent his formative years in Wellington, Utah, until his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah near the 9th and 9th area. He went East High School and continued on with some college at LDS Business College.
Russell served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in South Africa, and upon returning home vowed never to eat RICE again!
He met his sweetheart, Margaret Hulet, while they were both working at the Salt Lake Newspaper Corporation. They were married on September 17, 1971, in the St. George Temple. West Valley City became a lifelong home for the newly weds and the family they would begin.
He was proceeded in death, by father Bernard Leland Wilder & mother Erma Burnett Wilder, his sister Linda Kay Berry (Mike), brother Scott Ray Wilder (Susan).
Russell is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughters Anna (Rudi) and Militia Earl, and his grandson Jax Marc Earl. His little Buddy.
The Family wishes to thank the entire care giving team from Legacy/Atlas who have aided us in this trial. Special thanks to Mary and Andy, and Brian Earl, R.N. for the attentive care given to Russell. With the dedication of medical professionals and our dear ward members, Russell and our family were better able to cope with his last days.
Services will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:00 - 9:45 prior to services at the church he attended: Hunter Ward house, 3566 South 6000 West, West Valley City.
