Spencer Earl Gray peacefully passed away on April 4, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 17, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gwen S. Gray and Ethel Hawkins. He was the 3rd of four brothers.

He graduated from Jordan High School in 1961 then served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1965. He served an LDS mission to the Northern United States Mission from 1965 to 1967. He married Kathleen Beck in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in August of 1968 and they have been happily married for 48 ½ years. They raised seven children together: Jeff (Rachel) Gray, Chad (Michelle) Gray, Channa, Collette, Doug (Angie) Gray, Troy (Andrea) Gray, Megan (Derick) Wilson. He has 12 grandchildren.

Spencer served a tour in Desert Storm and retired with full honors from the Army Reserve. Spencer loved to collect things and worked in the Jordan River Temple. He had a great love of dogs and will miss his faithful four-legged friend Maddie. His children and grandchildren will always remember his teasing, mischievous nature and grandpa's nicknames.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and brothers Harold and Norman Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald. The family would like to thank South Mountain Dialysis for 10 years of loving service.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crescent 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 1050 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah with a viewing on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6-8pm and Saturday 10 a.m. His final resting place will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
