It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son and
brother, Stephen Christopher Holt. Steve passed away at his home in Washington Utah on the
morning of October 28, 2023 at the age of 51.
Steve was born June 27, 1972 in Mesa Arizona to Shirl Neils Holt and Mary Lydia Langford
Holt. He was the 5th of 10 children; 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Being the middle child, he was
very mischievous and loved teasing his siblings.
Steve spent his early years in the Phoenix/Glendale Arizona area. He loved doing everything
with his best friend and younger brother Greg. They were inseparable throughout most of
Steve’s life. They spent most of their time outdoors; riding bikes, 3-wheelers, and building a
tree house they could hide in when they were in trouble. Steve loved and helped take care of
the families dogs, cockatiels, horses, pigeons, cows and chickens. His love of animals
continued throughout his life.
When Steve was 11, the family moved to St. George, Utah where he enjoyed camping, fishing
and hunting with his dad and siblings. He loved hiking, dirt biking, and building forts and
tunnels near his home in Bloomington Hills. Steve and Greg collected golf balls out of the golf
course pond to clean up and resell them.
Steve attended Pine View High School where he played football and often got in trouble for
defending his brother Tim from bullies. He was very protective of family.
After high school, Steve and Greg moved in together where they spent a lot of time with life
long friends while enjoying their youth. They attended many concerts in Las Vegas and
followed the Grateful Dead around California. During this time, Steve and his girlfriend had a
daughter, Ivey Holt.
Steve was a thrill-seeker and loved to push his limits whether he was driving his Razor, 4-
wheeling in his Jeep, getting his pilots license and scaring the hell out of his family during flight
training or jumping off an 80 foot cliff at Lake Mead where he broke his back.
Steve met the love of his life, Jamie Wright, dancing at the Bit and Spur in Springdale Utah. It
was love at first site for Steve. They were married in Springdale on April 10th, 1999. They loved
dancing, traveling and spending time with family. Steve and Jamie helped raise Ivey and had 3
children together, Gabriel, Charley and Sophia Holt.
Steve was a very smart and driven man. He was not afraid of a challenge or new opportunities.
Throughout Steve and Jamies marriage, they lived in Washington, Utah where Steve worked
various construction jobs. They moved to Phoenix Arizona where Steve went to flight training
school and was at the top of his class when he received his pilot license. Steve began working
for his father-in-law, where he managed a golf course in Klamath Falls, Oregon and sold
manufactured homes in Ventura, California. They eventually settled in Washington, Utah. After
Steve received his CDL he began working in the North Dakota oil fields driving truck for his
cousins. He then later received his Real Estate license.
Later in life, Steve discovered he had another daughter, Taija Scott. Their relationship was just
beginning when this tragedy occurred.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jamie Wright Holt, his daughters, Ivey Holt, Taija Scott, Charley
Holt and Sophia Holt, his son Gabriel Holt; his mother, Mary Langford Holt, 5 sisters, 3 brothers
and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Shirl Neils Holt,
brother Daniel Shirl Holt, and nephew Bailey Judd Burgess.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at 11am at the Holt Cemetery
in Enterprise, Utah. A small program and luncheon to follow at the LDS Stake Center; 80
Center St. Enterprise , UT 84725
