ValLynn Kay Dietrich Bauer- wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and follower of Christ. She was born in Salt Lake City on December 20, 1960 to her parents Fred and Valda Dietrich. She passed away surrounded by family at the age of 63 on Friday April 19, 2024.
She was the third of five children. She grew up in Salt Lake City and had a fulfilling childhood with her siblings. Her mother says she always followed through on her commitments. She was an obedient child and easy to raise. Her siblings say she was quite mischievous at times. After highschool she attended cosmetology school and upon graduation she opened her own salon in the Avenues called ValLynn’s Hair Cottage. She fostered many friendships and relationships throughout the years she worked there until she decided to work at her home salon after the birth of her sixth child.
She met her husband, Kirby Bauer, in 1980 and they were engaged three weeks later, followed by a six month engagement. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on March 20, 1981. They spent 43 short years together in this life and have raised eight children together.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always did her best to attend sporting events, dance performances, school activities, baptisms, baby blessings, primary programs, and anything else she could. One of her favorite things to do was to go camping with her family where she would spend countless hours visiting, playing games, and entertaining the grandkids. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and two youngest daughters, with their most recent trip to California for spring break.
She was always up for an adventure and was the source of laughter and light for so many people. She was the best example of Christlike service and love. Always willing to help anyone in need and the first to remind you to be kind and forgiving to those around you. She was never heard to say an unkind thing about anyone and could always find the good in people.
Anyone who had the privilege to meet her felt seen, heard, and loved. She emulated the love of the Savior and shared that love with everyone. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and spent countless hours doing family history work to bring others into the gospel. She had weekly trips to the temple with her mother for many years and then was lucky enough to have her husband join them once he retired. She’s been an instrument of the Lord in sharing the gospel here on earth and on the other side of the veil. She knew that the work she was doing ensured that families can be together forever.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was loved by all and taken far too soon.
She leaves behind her husband, Kirby, their eight children, 26 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren - daughter, Kaelynn (John)- Warren, Tyler, Madilyn, Gabe, Ava, Rilynn, Madison (Tarl, son Shiloh), Isaac, Sara, and Kaiden; daughter, Celeste- Hannah (Trevor, son Jay), Madison, Denver, Samantha, Marissa, Austin; son, Allen (Brittany)- Mackenzie, Liam, Andelyn; son, Bryant (Helen); son, Matthew (Kattia)- Alex, Olivia, Freddy; daughter, Michelle (Jordan)- Jacey, Ethan, Atticus, Finley; daughter, Emmalie (Lance); and daughter, Kimberlie.
