Vera Lou Dinkel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on February 22, 1936, to Mary Crystal and Phillip Koestel, Vera was the youngest of 11 children and the last surviving sibling of her family.
Vera was married to the love of her life, Jacob P. Dinkel, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 16, 2024—a testament to their enduring love and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful legacy of family and cherished memories. Vera is survived by her children, Sherry and Butch Padgett, and Larry and Sue Dinkel. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Norman Dinkel. Vera’s greatest pride was her family, which grew to include 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom filled her heart with immense joy.
Known for her love of life, Vera found happiness in simple pleasures like bowling and gambling, always bringing her competitive spirit and joyful laughter to every gathering. She worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 20 years, retiring at the age of 62.
Vera's strength, humor, and love of family will forever be remembered by those who knew her. While her absence leaves a void, her legacy lives on in the countless memories and stories shared by her family and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Instead, the family will celebrate her remarkable life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Vera’s memory by sharing cherished moments with loved ones or enjoying life with a spirit of fun and adventure, just as she did.
