Vikki Christensen Kelly

April 5, 1949 — August 4, 2024

Our beloved Vikki Christensen Kelly, 75, passed away on August 4, 2024. She was born on April 5, 1949 to T. Lucille and William Christensen in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Vikki was a source of love and joy for everyone she came into contact with. She had a smile and a one-of-a-kind laugh that was contagious. She was a builder of lifelong friendships, immediately making you feel as if you were a part of her family. Vikki always had a knack of making everybody in the room feel loved, wanted and included. She worked hard as a single mom to raise her three children, working as a small business owner and then in sales. She always said that if she was supposed to get remarried, a man would have to be dropped on her doorstep. And her wish came true because Paul was. They were married on September 19, 1998. She has never been happier in her life than she was the past 25 years that she has spent with him. Vikki was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and she absolutely loved her Ward and her neighborhood. She dedicated her life to serving others. Vikki and Paul served a mission together for four years in their Ward, working with families to improve their financial and living situations. Vikki was always up for a party and was an expert party planner. She volunteered almost every day at the 2002 Winter Olympics and she spoke fondly of her experience during that time. She enjoyed working in the yard and eagerly watched out the kitchen window every spring for the hummingbirds to return to build their nest. Above all, Vikki loved her family the most. She poured her heart into supporting her family. Once grandchildren came along, her identity became “Manja.” She wasn’t just an ordinary Grandma. She loved to create fun moments and memories for her grandchildren, coming up with fun projects and hosting “Camp Manja and Papa”. Vikki was so proud of her grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting her great grand baby-on-the-way that will arrive in October. She was an animal lover, spending a lot of time the past two years snuggling with her dog, Hachi. Vikki was also a proud Manja to 7 grand dogs and 11 grand kitties.

She is survived by her spouse, Paul Kelly. Her brother, Mark DeGooyer and his wife Trisha. Her three children: Christopher Toone and his wife, Jen Brehm; Tressa Ririe and her husband, Ryan; and Aimee Moffatt and her husband, Greg. Five granddaughters, five grandsons and one great grand baby-on-the-way.

She was preceded in death by her mother, T. Lucille Powelson; her sister, baby Elizabeth DeGooyer; her favorite Aunt and Uncle, June and George Olsen; and her cherished grandparents who raised her, Tressa and Vern Johnson.
